Columbus Air Force Base (CAFB) is a United States Air Force base located in Columbus, Mississippi. It is known as the home of Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training (SUPT) for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy. CAFB’s mission is to provide quality pilot training for the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and international student pilots, as well as to support the training and education of all military personnel.
The base was established in 1941 as part of the military build-up prior to the United States’ entry into World War II. Since then, CAFB has played a pivotal role in training generations of military aviators. The 48th FTW is responsible for training future remotely piloted aircraft pilots and sensor operators, as well as providing introduction to fighter fundamentals training.
