Lackland Air Force Base, located in San Antonio, Texas, is the primary training base for the United States Air Force’s enlisted personnel. The base covers more than 9,000 acres and is home to several major training centers, including the 37th Training Wing, the 59th Medical Wing, and the 502nd Air Base Wing. Lackland AFB is an integral part of the Air Education and Training Command, which is responsible for the training and education of all Airmen.

One of the most well-known training programs at Lackland AFB is the basic military training (BMT) program, which all new Air Force recruits are required to complete. The 737th Training Group is responsible for conducting this rigorous eight and a half-week program, which includes physical fitness training, weapons and marksmanship training, drill and ceremony, and classroom instruction on Air Force core values and customs and courtesies.

In addition to BMT, Lackland AFB is also home to the Defense Language Institute English Language Center, where international military students receive specialized English language training. The base is also home to the Inter-American Air Forces Academy, where military students from Latin American and Caribbean countries receive technical and professional education and training.

Lackland AFB is also the location of the Air Force’s only basic military working dog and security forces training programs, as well as the Air Force’s Security Forces Academy. The base is also home to the 59th Medical Wing, which provides medical research, education, and healthcare to military members and their families.

In addition to its training facilities, Lackland AFB is also a key hub for military research and development, with numerous research and development facilities located on the base. The base also plays a key role in cyber operations, with the 24th and 67th Network Warfare Wings both headquartered at Lackland.

Overall, Lackland Air Force Base in Texas plays a critical role in shaping and preparing the next generation of Airmen, as well as conducting important research and development activities that contribute to the Air Force’s global mission.
